My adrenalina is pumping
Have any of you seen this? Seriously. The store was in a Coming Soon status for so long, I never thought it would actually open. And when it did, I had no idea what to expect. But this store, in and of itself, has turned me into a dirty old man.
It’s a surf and skate shop basically … extreme sports gear … and an indoor surf machine. I don’t know how it works exactly, but the water shoots uphill and you ride it that way. And what do you get when you put a surf machine in a mall? You get surfers in the mall. Surfing. In the store. In their boardshorts. That you can watch through the window.
Seriously.
There I am walking through the mall, and I think to myself “Oh, that store is finally open. I wonder what it’s all ab….. HOLY CRAP!” There are four, count them, four half naked, ripped surfer guys (I originally typed “dudes” but I just couldn’t say that without feeling like a dork), dripping wet, trying to ride this new surf machine.
To say I was memserized would be an understatement.
But how does one watch that, with families and children all around, without pressing one’s self right up against the glass? It’s hard, let me tell you. Double entendre intended.
I’ve been in the mall a couple times since it opened, and there’s always a couple guys in there. Some do really well. Some fall down a lot and get pushed, by the pressure of the water, all the way back up the hill.
It’s amazing really.
Now if you’ll excuse me. I need to pick up some Windex and head to the mall.
Check out the news story here.

I’ve seen these places before, very cool technology. My ‘hardest’ times were at my college kayak lessons. Half nekked mens everywhere and me in a dorky helmet with no sense of balance in my boat. Oops! Would you mind saving me again? Oh and I might need mouth to mouth…again. I drown with the best of them.

I so completely want to try surfing or bodysurfing on one of those contraptioins.

Aren’t extreme sports simply the best invention ever? It gives the hot boys a reason to be half-nekkid, and it gives us a reason to watch them without getting the shit kicked out of us.

They have one of these on Mission Beach in San Diego. They also have something similar to this on the new ship from Royal Caribbean. I want to try it but I have never surfed before. I guess that is probably a good way to learn.

Been there, done that, left tracks in my briefs.
And, yes, it was strange oggling the hot guys while families are everywhere.

Ok, so when I come to visit, promise you’ll take me there. I’ll bring the Windex (and the Ranch Dressing!)

Yikes! Sounds like you are having fun - dudes in board shorts are always a hot diversion from a bit of shopping (or a bit of anything). Though this phenomenon is new to Orlando, however, it’s not new elsewhere - but I’m not sure anywhere else has such a thing in a shopping mall!

Must know the exact location of this lovely franchise before I visit Florida.

Ummm, I don’t like getting wet.
January 31, 2007 at 4:53 pm
…I like getting wet.
Well, maybe if you’re sure to not move up and down or around as you lean on the glass to watch you should be OK!
…try not to lick the glass, tho. Always a bad choice in a straight shop!

Dude! Next time we go to the mall, we are sooooooo ditching those bitches in the food court and going oogling.
I’ll bring the kleenex (TM).

Funny. The would-be prospective agent seemed to think the same of Jeff in Troubled Waters.

And to think, I got excited when we finally got a Starbucks. I need to move.

sheesh, you are so lucky. I walked tot he mall today and all I could look in at was a Chuck-e-cheeses and a victoria’s secret.

Looks like fun, but wouldn’t it be easier just to go to the beach. Who has a house big enough for that?
February 1, 2007 at 12:20 pm
i don’t usually do malls, but this is going to be on my list of things to see when i pass thru orlando in april or may!!

OK…how big is this mall!!! Mine has only about 15 stores and they are mostly women’s clothing stores! Try and sneak some pics!!! Nothing better than half naked wet guys! (in a mall that is!!)
